The sweet spot is the optimal position for most efficient balnace on skis. You will ski with least amount of effort if you are inside the sweet spot. You can go fast, slide, skid and you will feel stable as long as you adjust your balance inside the sweet spot. Sometimes we heard about a ski being less forgiving. What it means is that it has smaller sweet spot. Beginner skis usually are more forgiving and don't panalize bad balance but it suffers in performance. Do you know what is your skis' sweet spot?
No, the classification of "forgiving" skis is based on the stiffness/softness the skis (i.e. their "wieldingness"/maneuverability), not the "sweet spot," and the "sweet spot" on the skis are fixed, the marked line where the boot's center line supposed to meet.

And no, the real "sweet spot" is not on the ski but on the human body (it is the human body that does the skiing, and large "sweet spot" means the skier can balance better in lots postures/movements), do you know where it is?
