On second look, maybe the excessive shaking is caused by the high speed on an uneven terrain, and has nothing to do with the lens "narrow" setting; on the groomed surface, the shaking is more tolerable, and the image seems bigger.taichiskiing 寫:Well, here's a clip shot with "1080/30p narrow," least distortion (the trees are more or less "straight"), but the "field of view" is much restrictive (the image of the skier is easily running out of screen), and I wonder if the excessive shaking is due to the narrow lens,

I think I like the "127" setting better, its FOVs are more dramatic.

But "127" setting's image is smaller, so it may capture more exciting performance without skiers' images being bump out of the screen.

Non-holiday weekdays are better, much less crowds.snowrider 寫:https://groups.google.com/d/msg/Chinese ... OvXQI1yMoJ
taichiskiing - Thank you so much!
We will be skiing there from 01/20 to 01/24 (5 ski days). We will ski two days at Heavenly, but we haven't decided which two days. I'll keep you posted.

Jan 20 is in the MLK holiday weekend, usually very busy, in fact, it'll be very busy for all of Tahoe resorts, for less crowds, Kirkwood may be your best bet (it is farther away from Tahoe). I can ski Sunday, so the schedule is not a problem. The good news as well as bad news is it is forecasted "sunny" all the way thru at least mid-week next week, so it'll likely be "sunny California skiing." No snow forcasted, but no problem, snow is covered all over the mountains, only difference is, if the temperatures are cold it'll be icy, but if the temperatures are warm, it will be early spring skiing, that'll be really nice, so do your snow dance, pray for your favorite temperatures, snowrider 寫:taichiskiing - Since we will arrive Lake Tahoe in late evening on 01/19, my friends they want to ski somewhere closer, which is Heavenly, for 01/20. So the following is our plan for the first three days:
Sun 1/20 - Heavenly
Mon 1/21 - Kirkwood
Tue 1/22 - Northstar
Then 01/23 and 01/24, we will ski one or two days at Heavenly with you. I am wondering if you will ski on Sunday? If Sunday is not an option for you, then we will try to ski both 01/23 and 24 at Heavenly with you (to make 3 days at Heavenly).

Ok, I should be home then, I don't monitor my cell phone, so I call me at my home phone, if no one answers, leave messages. Weather forecast is good, sunny and warming up, but remains cool enough for fast firm snow, good for "practicing" carving, but if you are not practicing it, I think mid-fats are more fun. Nevertheless, bring the skis you enjoy the most. We'll have more terrain to play this time around.snowrider 寫:taichiskiing - Cool! I'll give you a call when we arrive Reno at around 8:30 PM (and I won't call you when we arrive South Tahoe because it will be very late in that evening). About snow and weather, in that case, should I bring my carving skis (72 mm) or mid-fat skis (86 mm)?
