I think that maybe I will never have the gut to jump cliffs like they do in the movie.

Few years ago, I watched an instructional DVD that a Japanese skier demonstrated the same thingsnowrider 寫: One thing that I could not believe before I saw it, he was able to do one-footed skiing on the single-diamond mogul trail.

I was in his condition twice, and twice I crashed within seconds. Note how he moves his butt (CoG) downward to match his foot (CoB, Center of Base) at around :42 sec to regain balance, excellent balancing. And here's his one-legged skiing, snowrider 寫:Thanks for the link. Bode Miller is the best of the best on racing. He showed a perfect recovery after hitting the gate when nobody else was able to do it.

While I was saying that two-legged skiing is stronger than one-legged skiing, nevertheless, one legged skiing gains its advantage for the same reason, as it is weaker, it turns quicker (as the turning does not require changing feet), so one-legged skiing is a valuable skill for a black diamond class skier to have, to deal the tight spots where quicker turn is needed on the mogul hills, in the woods, and off-piste skiing. I do one-legged skiing with both feet on the ground (just emphasize skiing on one leg) on need base. From the video clip, I see how valuable of practing one footed skiing. Talking about skiing bumps, last weekend I skied bumps with the best mogul skier at our resort. He gave me a personal clinic on a 1-diamon mogul trail. Before that, I showed him my progress of White Pass turn on a regular blue trail. One thing that I could not believe before I saw it, he was able to do one-footed skiing on the single-diamond mogul trail. He did it, and I was stunned.
Have fun, :)

Some of the skiers in the movie are no longer with us. You may feel different about the movie when you get a chance to spend a few good snow days at Squawsnowrider 寫:I think that maybe I will never have the gut to jump cliffs like they do in the movie.

I don't know. When I was sitting in the Gold Coast's cafeteria and watching those cliff jumping people, I did not feel that I want to try it. Maybe I first need to try jumping off something less dangerous.skier888 寫:Some of the skiers in the movie are no longer with us. Look at it this way. What is displayed in the movie is displayed in this forum every day. It is based on a book Squallywood which define the point system. If a Squaw skier need your help after a fall, don't be surprise he claims "I am the best skier on the mountain" as he is limpping awaysnowrider 寫:I don't know.
