Morgan Engel
CSIA Level 4, CSIA Course Conductor, ACA Development Level Coach, CASI Level 1
Technical Director at Mount Norquay Snow School, Business Owner
Morgan Engel started his career as a CSIA Instructor in
Alberta in 1992. While working full-time in the ski industry he
has held the roles of ski instructor (Hidden Valley, Norquay
and Lake Louise), Head Coach of the Elkwater Race Club
and Volunteer Coach with Valley Race Club (Alliance, AB).
Currently he volunteers with CADS (Calgary, AB), is an active
Course Conductor throughout Alberta and is the Technical
Director of Mount Norquay Snow School.
The Kinsman Club is where he gained valuable volunteer
board experience (2003-2009). He sat on or chaired various
committees where he understood the roles, responsibilities
and time commitment that those positions required.
Morgan was elected to the CSIA Alberta board and served from 2010-2016. He was again
elected in 2017 where he currently sits as Chair of the Region and chairs the meetings of the
CSIA Regional Chairs Collaboration Conference Calls. In his eight years he has contributed to
the development of several offerings in Alberta, these include:
• Regional clinics
• Social media for the Alberta Region
• Project Y
• Four contract committees
The Alberta board positions he has held are Treasurer, Secretary, Vice Chair and Chair. He has
worked courses, PDP’s, and clinics throughout Alberta and two other regions, which gives him a
current understanding of the membership and their needs.
Morgan would be honored to further give back to the Alliance through the opportunity to
represent our vast membership nationally. He is confident in his ability to fairly and transparently
represent CSIA members from a National perspective.
D. Darren MacDonald
CSIA Level 3, Level 2 ACA and CSIA Level 1 Course Conductor
Darren MacDonald is a professional Ergonomist and
educator with an addiction to skiing. He has two decades
of experience consulting to business, from startups to
Fortune 500 corporations throughout North America, on
designing environments, processes and products from
the perspective of the user. He draws upon that
experience to help lead design, innovation and
entrepreneurship programming at Cape Breton
University.
He received his undergraduate degree in Kinesiology from Dalhousie University and his masters
in Ergonomics Design from the University of Derby in the UK. Darren was also part of the
inaugural class at Cape Breton University’s UIT Startup Immersion program in Technology
Entrepreneurship.
This past January, Darren celebrated 9 years since taking his Level 1 with the CSIA and he has
been an active member in the ski school at Ski Ben Eoin ever since. As a lifelong learner he
commits himself to develop both his ski teaching and skiing ability through courses, modules
and camps annually. He currently leads a ski and teach improvement group for Ben Eoin
instructors on Monday nights. In addition to the ski school Darren has been a part-time coach
since 2011 with the Ben Eoin Ski Team.
Darren has board experience at the local, regional and national levels. Most recently he
completed his second 5-year term with the Canadian Kinesiology Alliance, a national board he
helped establish in the 1990’s. He currently sits as a Canadian Advisor to ISO Technical
Committee 159 for Ergonomics and the Institute for Work & Health’s Educationally Influential
Ergonomists committee.
