Stance and Balance:
- centered
- mobile
- pole plant stabilizes skier and initiate turn
Turning with the Lower Body (looks like at turn initiation)
- upper body still
- legs turn
- edge of outside skis grips snow early in turn
Balancing on edges ( at apex)
- skier balances against edge of outside ski
- legs continue to turn resulting in increased edge pressure
- upper body is redirected
pressure control ( on turn exit)
- skier resists pressure
- skis bend
- skier will soon be deflected laterally
timing and coordination (around neutral)
- as skier is deflected laterally, he plants pole, turns legs and begins new turn

I think that it is better to use turn phases to describe. BTW, in CSIA short turn, the turn phases are slightly different timing to Mid or Big turn. Therefore, your timing should be modified in some cases.

Please feel free to modify what I pick up from the video. What is turn phases in CSIA
I have this DVD but just think it's for CSIA promotion instead of ski instruction.

Sure, you're right but just emphasized in my last post that they only list out the requirements (i.e. you said - standard) but don't explain how to do.
BTW, I think that video is illegally uploaded to Youtube.com.

Anyway, that video is very good for the accredited instructors because they can make use of the video to explain the techniques (with their own experience and interpretation) in the class room. Maybe it's called teaching flexibility.

I see. FYI, the series of Personal Performance Tips by Rob Butler may be a good source to understand CSIA technique.

perhaps another advantage of the 短片 is its 短. I have Harald's new set of DVD yet never able to completely finish the viewing with reasonable concentration, same as Rick's DVD, less to say lengthy material from other school.

There is a trick. A DVD (long) is made up by chapters (短). You can view one chapter at a time. You can even define your own chapter to make it even shorter

Thanks for the trick. I think this is a very good tactic. Actually doing this is quite resembling learning from an instructor. They just won't teach you everything in one go.
Honously my learning had been directed by my internet coaches so it might be one of the reason why i dont quite follow the books. they ask me to this or that, then i came back with a vid performing the required movements and then post my videos to get another feedback. this cycle lasted for like 3 years. Therefore reading books becaming not part of my learning method. Of course its a very good move to read books.

I see but don't care whether the video is long or short. I would focus on the contents instead

It's good approach to lead by a coach. For me, I used to read the ski materials before lesson and discuss with the coach which techniques I want to learn

I think in this forum only one person has the ability to determine who could achieve 大成. Are you the man?
