Nice video. I guess the first video represents CSIA's standard. It's a bit strange about his method of wearing the pole straps.

Basically, this video already show the CSIA 's promotion in the way safe and fun learning.

Totally agree with the importance of safety. That's why the skiers/instructors are wearing helmets in the demonstration. BTW, here is a video to show how to wear pole straps - TCEOS V Pole Straps on Vimeo
To me, it can reduce our risk of injury if pole straps are used properly
