If you look at the chart again, we have male around 180-190. That's not far from normal male weight, even when compare to Asian 180-190 is not abnormal (I'm 190lb). US female team is obviously on the heavy side if you compare to Asia women. :)
Observer 寫:Looking at the chart, for 190 lb and up male skiers, they are mostly over 6 feet tall, and I bet that they are all muscles and very little fat.
Also have you seen most of the women WC skiers that their thigh must be at least twice as big as 'normal' Asia girls of the same height.
Doing GS, SG or downhill requires, not only techniques, but stamina and physical strength as well.
Quoting Observer's reply on the other thread.
Back to why 丸山貴雄為何拿不下 WC 冠軍. The simplest answer is that he isn't fast enough. Sorry just joking.
丸山貴雄 being technical strong doesn't always mean he could do well in racing. Two different techniques and two different ball games. To ski the way he is doing now, a lot of those skills are not for speed purpose only.
I heard that most of the Japanese technical skiers are having race training since their youth. So compare to other snow countries, they still have a shorter season for training. Also I "think" ski hill in Japan in generate is smaller compare to other snow countries. That's another limitation to their training.
To say that 丸山貴雄拿不下 WC 冠軍 all because of his weight isn't the best I consider.
過旗門(竿) needs that much force, really? I never touch those pole, but I thought they were mean to be flexible.
I am pretty sure 丸山貴雄 got a racing background but are you sure he's in the national alpine team of Japan before. If he was not the top racer of Japan, then you should change the title to " Why Japanese Racer can win the WC "
Only GS and Shalom need to hit the gates and these 2 events are more technical especially Shalom. A smaller guy can do well also.
The Downhill and super G need big and strong body to resist the force.

To hit the gate sounds small force, but if you accumulate for several times you may find out that it becomes noticeable. I learn from WB conductor.

Japan alpine ski team got the best result in Slalom, the hitting gate one
When non-collapsible gates were changed to collapsible gates years ago, slalom racing was changed completely.
One used to ski rounder turns around the gates and if one ski too close to the gates by clipping it, one risk the resistance of the gates slower one down.
With the collapsible slalom gates, the whole game has changed. The skis go around the gate, but the body goes directly at the gate - thus a much shorter distance of the ski path. And the skier wears all the protection and gear to knock down the gates.
But for GS, it is a different since one still has to ski around the gates that has piece of cloth between two poles, and clipping it real hard may even cause delay.
To reach the top of the WC standing is difficult since there are so many countries and elite skiers competing. A fraction of a second on the 2 runs combined may separate the top 3 skiers.
I suspect that, especially for GS, SG and downhill, a stronger physical build and strong legs has the advantage because of the tremendous G force that builds up during the high speed turns.

There is no mogul skiing in Alpine Ski Race but moguls is included in the technical competition. The way they ski is more like a demonstraor ( the highest level of an instructor. )
Judges give points. Alpine skiing calculate time.
The first guy wearing blue jacket was in the National Team of Japan if I didn't make a mistake
