Pedal turns, one step/pedal one turn, like standing up riding/"pedaling" a bicycle uphill, is one of most technical and elegant techniques to ski the narrow and steep terrain. Watch the last three turns in the "gully," there are no "gap" between each turn (like pedaling a bicycle); turning on the upper part of gully still have some "glide" in there, as the gully is not "steep" enough; pedal configurations (the coming outside ski high and coming inside ski low) are generally setup by steepness of the terrain (after you have completed the turning), as you switch you feet and "stand" up on the uphill ski and press/"pedal" the ski downward you would have already turned,

Of course, and you might need that to ski where we will be skiing; miggie's canyon (blue, tree skiing) is one of my favor way home.

Pedal turn, one step one turn, has another variant—"running downhill"—as the skier is "running" on the road (skis) that the skier carries,

So, how the dryland training comes along? Don't train too hard, enjoy your summer. ;)

I am too lazy to train too hard. Start to slim down a bid but really hard to get the fat off the body even I eat so little, partly because of the genes and partly because of age.

Our trip should be at the beginning of Feb and a guy from HK already bought the ski pass there.

Enjou your fishing and roller blading!

Well, I can't stand most gyms' setup, so I've never trained in a gym. The best way to get those fats off is running, imo, and next best thing is riding bicycle long distance, that's how I used to train myself when I was younger. Heavy is not that much a problem for downhill skiing, for most flatlanders, their problem is their breathing cannot keep up with or support their skiing activities, so they cannot perform, and I think that's something needed to be addressed/trained in their dryland training.

That's smart; it is cheaper to buy a pass if you ski more than 5 days/season at one resort, and Tahoe Value pass is now including both Heavenly and Northstar-at-Tahoe,

Early February timing is good; I predict an early season start, so we will have good snow/powder by then. How many of you do you think?

Thanks, it is now mid-summer, all lunkers have sunk down deep, so it is tough fishing, and the bike path is choked full of bikers/tourists from flatlands wandering aimlessly, tough rollerblading too; summer sucks.
