#1 Ski Trips for Winter 2012-13
The mercury is dropping ... It's about the time to start planning our ski trips for the coming winter. I am thinking about taking 3-4 ski trips this time:
1. Killington (12/17-21) - Guest Package of a big PSIA event
http://groups.google.com/group/ChineseS ... 3b02d17130
2. Colorado (01/19-25) - Arapahoe Basin, Keystone, Breckenridge, Vail, Beaver Creek
3. Lake Tahoe (02/17-23) - Heavenly, Northstar, Kirkwood, Squaw Valley
4. Colorado ( 03/17-23) - Vail, Beaver Creek
This is just a tentative schedule. Let's discuss and plan early.

Sure thing; what pass do you have? Aside from Northstar, this year Heavenly pass (Epic Local, Tahoe Local & Tahoe Value passes) also includes Kirkwood, nevertheless, 2/16~2/17 are blackout days, so are Saturdays on Northstar and Kirkwood with Tahoe Value pass;snowrider 寫:taichiskiing - Our group is going to Lake Tahoe again the coming winter. I am wondering if you will be able to ski together?

and 2/16~2/17 are also a part of President Week, very busy at Tahoe, you need to book lodges early; hopefully we would have better snow conditions this year.
Have fun, :)

We have purchased Epic Local. The travel dates are just proposed ones. I still need to talk to my group to figure out a schedule that fits everyone. Yes, hopefully we could have better condition this year.

I paid my flight ticket to Japan so it's confirmed . I know you don't like to ski Japan but the bumps there is tough for me .snowrider 寫:We have purchased Epic Local. Wow, that's some long term plan; no kids? Nevertheless, too much travel for skiing for me.snowrider 寫:Understood! No worry! We will probably go skiing at Whistler next year. The following is our long term plan:

Here's my envision of an ultimate skiing vacation (mouths long); get a Vail's epic pass (unlimited), which is really cheap nowadays, and rent a RV, then you can travel to all ski resorts included in the epic pass and ski the daylights out of you; less travel but a lot of skiing.
Run across a clip of me on youtube, I think it's posted by Jack from last season, (surprise!), please say thanks for me, will you?

Heavenly has been closed for the past three days now, for the monster storms on the west coast, three in a row, unfortunately, mostly rains, snow level above 7,000 ft, so at least the top of the mountain has received some snow; nevertheless, more to come, but I think that forecasted "several FEET" are hype. Similar to the last year, all that moistures wasted in "rains"... Waiting for sky to open, maybe two more days.

It has been raining all day at lake level yesterday; nevertheless, all three Vail resorts, Heavenly, Northstar, and Kirkwood report 15"+ of snow on the upper mountains, and the biggest [of the three] storm is still to come [tonight], so the season is looking good right now. The bad news is Heavenly is again on wind-hold and closed today, and may well be extended to tomorrow. Nevertheless, Monday should be a good day, with more terrain opens.
Meanwhile, watching the rain and wind, enjoy the moment of waiting, :)

taichiskiing - Nice! May I ask your permission to copy and paste your (snow) report (this one) to our ski club? I am recruiting friends to go skiing Lake Tahoe, so I need to inject something to make them excited!

Well, while we got rained on at lake level, Heavenly upper mountains received 30" fresh snow out of these storms, firm powders, cover everything nicely, so, even tree runs are open. The season is off to a good start, but we need more snow; keep up the snow dance. :)snowrider 寫:taichiskiing - Thanks a lot! Please see my post:

Whistler already got 175cm base from mid mountain ( 1000m ) up, around 10 feet of snow in 2 weeks
