TCS and Rick (or Greg) should send checks of $1000 each to Epicski so they can reserve the mountain and hold the other $G for the winner.
Yuki, I think he means he can alpine and tele without poles, and snowboard with some degree of compentency. I don't know that we all can do that. Some folks here are so talented they could learn telemark and snowboard in one week, but haven't bothered to do so yet.
Unless we can produce a runner who can beat him in alpine, tele, and snowboard. If flatboarding proves to be a superior technique in more than one skiing discipline, I think flatboarding wins. I nominate Greg if Rick is not up to it.
Greg, spending two weeks to master telemark and snowboard will not be two weeks of ski time wasted. If you can do that, they will be two of the most rewarding weeks of skiing you will ever have. I think your massive ego is the biggest obstacle (you will be a beginner again, at least for the first ten minutes or longer even if you are a fast learner). That ego is probably why you can only ski alpine now.
Don't chicken out. You have thrown down a challenge to school Taichi, and you should be the one to put up $1000 to prove it. If you win you get your money back. Rick sounds a little soft on really getting this race set up. If I am allowed to use the facilities that day, I will throw $50 in the pot. I would be willing to race, but I'm not going to ante more than $100, lifts included to compete. I don't know if I could beat him. I'm not a great skier like you and Rick.
Actually to cover travel expenses, missed work etc. each competitor maybe should ante $1500, winner gets his 1000 back and 1000 prize. And/or charge admission. As both racers agreed to $10,000 wager, this should be acceptable. I guess the minimum would be 1000, and if both agree to more, OK.
What do you guys think? Are you all talk? Show us the money!

Actually, I'm flat broke right now. (Teaching 40 students a season don't really make one a rich man.) I may be able to raise $1000 through fund-raising, but not sure if I want to go through that kind of trouble, nevertheless, if you want to prove yourself that carving is faster than flatboarding, I race you, any time.
絶對同意。
