Heavenly has received 24" of snow from past 7 days, so, it is powder skiing all around now, and more to come (another bigger one has forecasted next Tuesday).
taichiskiing - The lastest change of our schedule to visit Lake Tahoe is 01/20-25 (5 ski days). I am wondering if that sounds good to you? Sorry about all these changes. It's hard to coordinate with a group of people to find a good schedule that everyone is happy with.

No problems, winter time I don't go anywhere, :) just give me a call when you guys finally arrive. More snow storms are coming, the season is looking really good right now.

Oops, you misspelled my name (twice), should be Mr. I Shen, not Mr. s Shen.

taichiskiing - Sorry about that! You know what ... the first misspelling was a typo (for I mistype an "s"). The second one was my negligence (again) by copy-and-pasting the first post. After I clicked Submit, I noticed that mistake, but it was too late because google group did not have Edit function. (I will pay more attention on that next time!)

Ok, don't worry about it; I was only trying to save you some embarrassment later. To correct/edit a serious mistake on google groups, I usually delete the erroneous original and repost the edited post.

Snow, snow, and more snow [are forecasted], looks like last year's wishes and prayers are finally come true (a year late). Gone with the "ice skating,"

It was beautiful day, beautiful snow, and beautiful skiing, but all the video clips were ruined by fogging of gopro2, kind of like Norman and beg on this forum, they suck big time.
And the weather was called for snow flurries in morning, sunny in the afternoon, and that was wrong too, in fact, just the opposite, by three o'clock in the afternoon, the mountain was totally suck in, cold, windy, and white-out, it sucked like Norman and beg, big time.
The good news is that we get to ski the powder again today. The weather forecast is again called for big snow storms with several "feet" of snow on and off from Friday through Sunday. Haha, as previous few forecasts called for "feet" of snow but never really materialized, we'll see how it goes this time.

taichiskiing - Thank you! Now we have only 4 people are going to Lake Tahoe this time. I'll try to recruit more to join us.

Well, there was two more FEET of snow has fallen since the last report, with six feet of snow has fallen in the past seven days, Heavenly is now opened the whole mountain, and as well as “top to bottom”skiing. With that much snow falling in December, the indication is that it would be dry in January, which means we’ll be skiing the “sunny California skiing,”good stuff.

taichiskiing - I see that you are using Hero2. As you know that I am also using that model of GoPro. How come my YouTube clips do not look as clear as yours? What shooting resolution do you use? 1080? Also when you generate the movie file for uploading, what resolution do you use?

Not sure what exactly you mean "not as clear" without seeing the clips; generally, if you were chase filming, a loose helmet will cause the camera shaking, which may blur the images, (and youtube may offer you an option to fix it, but it couldn't really do much (as it make some images clearer but make others worst, so the over-all clip is not improved),
though the clip is not an gopro clip, but I think the result is the same, so I don't usually use that feature.) Fogging as shown on the earlier clip is another problem for hero2, as hero2 has a bigger "engine" so it runs hotter, which would vaporize the moisture within the waterproof outer case in some "right" conditions, which would then condense on the cold lens and fog up the lens.
My solution is to coat the camera lens and the outer case lens area with an anti-fog optical cleaner, which appeared working as shown on the previous "top to bottom" clip. My camera setup is 1080HD with 127 "medium" angle (not the defult 170), and I upload to youtube with the original format .mp4.
Have fun, :)

taichiskiing - Thanks so much for the detailed explanation. When I press the front button, I see the screen shows 1080-30. Is that the same setting as yours? Also I don't see that my Hero2 has "127" or "170", but I do see wide/medium/narrow. The "wide" is the default value, so I change it to "medium" ... is that what you meant by "127"?

Yes, and yes. "127" medium angle has less distortion than "170," (the lines on the edge should be less curvier); haven't used the "narrow" one yet, it should be close to "normal" camera; maybe I'll try it tomorrow to see what kind of distortion it has, I'll let you know.

Well, here's a clip shot with "1080/30p narrow," least distortion (the trees are more or less "straight"), but the "field of view" is much restrictive (the image of the skier is easily running out of screen), and I wonder if the excessive shaking is due to the narrow lens,
I think I like the "127" setting better, its FOVs are more dramatic.

Maybe the narrow setting causes the len more vulnerable to shaking? OK, I'll set my GoPro medium as you suggest.
