Which type of skiing do you think he skis better, bumps or groomed runs?

I like his bumps, moguls and short turns ,
Many people can do carving long turns like him

Yes, I agree. His long radius turns are not special. His short radius turns and bumps are good.pku 寫:I like his bumps, moguls and short turns ,

I don't see many CSIA 4 skiing that types of moguls. That kind of moguls is quite rare in Canada.
Those I trained with cannot ski like that even on much easier bumps. I didn't see video of Canadian demonstrators skiing bumps much.
The guy Tobbin skis pretty goods on bumps but still not the level of Paul Lorenz. I like Tobbin's carving long turns.

I watched Lorenz' video clips again. His bump skiing is more like World Cup style, where they run over the bumps directly with absorption and extension but without much rotary movement (not much turn around bumps).pku 寫:I don't see many CSIA 4 skiing that types of moguls. It's different from freestyle, skis still travel in an arc, skis are set away from center of mass with edges set before falling , good technical moguls skiing . I'll try to capture the photo and email to you . I don't know how to post picture heresnowrider 寫:I watched Lorenz' video clips again. The moguls line also determine the way of skiing them. That's my own opinion

I see what you are saying. The screen capture is at 2:02 on the video "TurnClips3".pku 寫:It's different from freestyle, skis still travel in an arc, skis are set away from center of mass with edges set before falling , good technical moguls skiing . I think that Lorenz applies more World Cup mogule style than our xSIA style. With the WC style, they ride on moguls more but turn around moguls less. With our xSIA styles, we turn around moguls more. His mogul style is kind of a combination of both, but we still can see some WC breed in his bump skiing. I am curious about his background. Is or has he been in some competition team?

I checked his site. Only said he got his instructor L1 on 2002, CSIA L3 and L4 Australia .snowrider 寫:I see what you are saying. The screen capture is at 2:02 on the video "TurnClips3".

He didn't have any freestyle moguls training. May be the Japan style moguls make him ski like that. Those top technical skiers in Japan ski moguls like that , even Richard Berger

Some of the skiing here still doesn't show much rotary moverments of the legs, but still consider tecnical skiing, not freestyle. The most obvious differnence between the two ways of skiing is the hands position.snowrider 寫:I see what you are saying. The screen capture is at 2:02 on the video "TurnClips3".

I heard our top CSIA guy JF is inspired by Richard Berger and Maruyama's skiing. I also heard PAul Lorenz is attenting the Hokaido Tecnical skiing championship

收縮釋壓滑法,真的很不好練,除非專門特別去練,最好還要有會的人教,不然應該是極難練出來的。pku 寫:High end skiing , all 收縮釋壓,滑法。

He is really a gifted skier: "At age 19, Paul was one of the youngest in history to pass the APSI National Level 4 exam and one of the few to complete all certification exams in consecutive seasons."

Found his profile on the web:
