I am opening a new thread to discuss "steering" (ref:
http://www.goski.com.tw/forum/showthread.php?t=494)
Here is the PSIA definition of "steering" (in Alpine Technical Manual 2nd edition):
"Using muscular movements to aid the skis through the turn. Steering allows you to actively direct the path of the skis while responding to terrain and snow conditions."
I also like the definition found from a google book:
http://books.google.com/books?id=W16Lla ... CBYQ6AEwAA
"Steering: After you edge and pressure a skis, steering is everything else you do that applies a twisting force to your ski."

good move. what I have in mind is there r 3 method to turns.
1. redirection - pivoting (not steering)
2. brushing the side cut (mixing carving with un-even pressure on the skis tip and tails)- steering?
3. carving - control turning with how much bending of the skis.
what do you think?

Skier888 - this is to reply your post (http://www.goski.com.tw/forum/showpost. ... tcount=104)
"I wonder if both of you know what is PMTS...."
My answer - Sorry that I don't know what brings you to this question. I don't know anything about PMTS. I agree with pku that some term might be interpreted differently in different systems.

How come Norman's student ski better than Norman?

滑雪不需要出多少力氣, depend where and how fast you ski. If you 練on the gentle grroom run, OK

Not sure how many people would understand it by reading them; I don't. Apparently, "steering" is a "borrowed" term; we should be able as well to find the meaning in its metaphor. How do we "steering" the steering wheel to turn a car? By pressing the steering wheel, while the steering wheel gives away and the control hand continues to move with the steering wheel without its own movement, and the continuous pressure causes the car to turn, that's "steering." In skiing, edging pressure is what makes skis carve, did I say I "carve" on flat boards? "Steering,"snowrider 寫:I am opening a new thread to discuss "steering" (ref:

Of course, good "steering," (so, it doesn't really matter what description of "steering" is when one can do it,) and yes, much better than Beg's.pku 寫:That's how I steer the skis, am I doing better than Beg
